Haiti Benefit Songs “We Are The World” and “Everybody Hurts” go viral
As we mentioned before on Friday Reads, social media plays an important role in the aftermath of the Haiti earthquake. It is not only a means of communication, giving victims a voice and spreading information about the tragedy around the world. It is also more than helpful in raising funds for the suffering population. A benefit cover of R.E.M.’s “Everybody Hurts” and a remake of “We Are The World” were recorded by groups of famous artists to raise money for the victims. Thanks to social media users, both singles are making a big splash on the web, likely boosting sales of the records.
Risks of Using Social Media
According to a Yahoo!Finance article social networking websites can work against you in several situation. If you have applied for a job you should assume that your potential employer is checking up on you online. Any questionable material on your profile can eliminate your chances to get the job.
